Vienna Yearbook of Population Research 2007

2007

The 2007 issue of the Vienna Yearbook of Population Research covers a broad range of studies on different aspects of population change and policy options, with a particular focus on population dynamics, low fertility and population ageing in Austria and Europe. The issue includes four invited essays that critically assess the 2006 European Commission Communication on The Demographic Future of Europe—From Challenge to Opportunity. Other contributions cover fertility and family size ideals, mortality, population ageing, population projections and reconstructions, regional consequences of population decline, and models of age dynamics. Two studies not focused on Europe cover uncertain future of Chinese population and a global reconstruction of population by age, sex and level of educational attainment.
