Книга посвящена библиографической реконструкции и изучению дворцового книжного собрания правителей Хорезма из династии Конгратов, которое при завоевании ханства русскими войсками в 1873 г. было конфисковано в качестве военного трофея и вывезено в столицу Российской империи Санкт-Петербург. Книга состоит из двух частей. В первой из них рассматриваются такие вопросы, как характер и функционирование данной придворной библиотеки, политические, социальные и культурные предпосылки развития литературы и книжного дела в Хивинском ханстве, обстоятельства вывоза рукописей из Хивы и их последующей передачи в российские научные учреждения, проблемы и способы их выявления. Вторая часть содержит описания рукописей, идентифицированных как происходящие из указанной коллекции.

Ausgehend von einer bibliographischen Rekonstruktion untersucht das Buch die Hofbibliothek der Qongrat-Dynastie von Choresm. Die Bibliothek wurde bei der Eroberung des Khanats Chiwa durch russische Truppen im Jahr 1873 als Kriegstrophäe beschlagnahmt und in die russische Hauptstadt St. Petersburg verbracht. Das Buch besteht aus zwei Teilen: Der erste Teil befasst sich mit dem Wesen und der Funktionsweise dieser Hofbibliothek, dem politischen, sozialen und kulturellen Hintergründen der Entwicklung von Literatur und Buchkultur im Khanat, den Umständen des Abtransports der Manuskripte aus Chiwa und ihrer anschließenden Übergabe an russische akademische Einrichtungen sowie mit methodischen Aspekten der Rekonstruktion der Bibliothek. Der zweite Teil enthält Beschreibungen von Manuskripten, die als aus dieser Bibliothek stammend identifiziert wurden.

The book is devoted to the bibliographical reconstruction and study of the court library of the Qongrat dynasty of Khorezm. Confiscated as a war trophy during the conquest of the Khanate of Khiva by Russian troops in 1873, the library was taken to the Russian Empire's capital, St Petersburg. The book consists of two parts: the first part discusses the nature and functioning of this court library, the political, social, and cultural background for the development of literature and book culture in the Khanate, the circumstances of the removal of manuscripts from Khiva and their subsequent transfer to Russian academic institutions, as well as methodological aspects of reconstructing the library. The second part contains descriptions of manuscripts identified as originating from this library.
