Beiträge zur Literaturwissenschaft
This article is concerned with narrative works by three contemporary Austrian writers (Lydia Mischkulnig, Josef Winkler, Elfriede Jelinek) under the aspect of the representation of repulsive images and acts that might repel the reader. As is shown, even the most extreme distortion of social phenomena is based on a positive counter design within the author‘s own aesthetic practice from which inevitably contradictions in the work of art will arise.
