Abstract

Investigation of climate change in mountains of southwest Bulgaria suggests thatthe identified changes could have a long-term effect on the ecosystems and their servicesin the region. This paper aims to highlight some of the main threats that alpinelandscapes in Pirin National Park might face, given the anticipated climate changes, and to document the potential prediction of vulnerability as well as the need toestablish adaptive management.
