Abstract

The article discusses the relations between Heiner Müller’s ›Hamletmaschine‹, Marcel Duchamp’s magnum opus of glass and the art of Andy Warhol. This implies a dissolution of the individuality of the work of art. With this aim in view it does not only consider the deconstruction of the concept of the autonomous artist in Marcel Duchamp’s ›Large Glass‹ and in Heiner Müller’s ›Hamletmaschine‹ but also explains how ideas of authorship are followed up in Müller’s text, which were to confer a legendary distinction on Andy Warhol’s achievement.
