Abstract

Robert Thalheim’s movie ›Am Ende kommen Touristen‹ treats the Holocaust in a special way. The action does not take place during the Second World War, but in this day and age. The protagonist is a young German who does his community service in Auschwitz. He takes care of a concentration camp survivor and falls in love with a Polish woman. The film reflects culturally established ways of depicting the Holocaust. It centres on the discussion of the representational characteristics of iconic depictions, symbolic communication, and indexical evidence.
