Abstract

In spring 2016 and summer 2017, two rescue excavations resulted in short sections of the Limes road on the western and eastern peripheries of the civilian town of Carnuntum being uncovered, as well as a subterranean section of the Roman aqueduct in an area to the west of Carnuntum, colloquially named Gstettenbreite. The results obtained from this are extremely important for the research into the ancient settlement’s infrastructure and are presented here together with an analysis of the finds retrieved in the course of the excavations.
