The funerary urn of C. Valerius Firminus, the sarcophagus of Herennia Rufina and a further sarcophagus bearing a dedication to the gods of the dead were found in the area of the large burial ground on the southern edge of the civilian city of Carnuntum. This contribution offers an epigraphic and archaeological analysis of the finds, supplemented by petrological identification of the stone materials used, a brief introduction to the polychrome decoration of the Herennia sarcophagus and anthropological identification of the bones found in the Firminus funerary urn.
