Abstract

This paper addresses some theories which lie behind the process of culture transfer. The issue is approached through dynamic relations of the West-Semitic deity Baˁal and the Egyptian Seth. This paper opposes the idea of the simple identification of these deities and tries to provide a more nuanced approach. The scholarly approach needs to reflect possible perspectives and must differentiate between the viewpoints of a scholar and that of “adherents”. The goal of this paper is to inspire those who want to deal with cultural transfer and translatability.
