Abstract

This paper presents an expanded interpretation of the decoration programme of the Ptolemaic sanctuary at Deir el-Bahari, dedicated to Amenhotep son of Hapu and Imhotep, previously published by the same author (Laskowska Kusztal 1984). It presents the results of a new analysis of decorative elements, highlighting the relationship between the sanctuary and the ideology of the so-called Small Temple (+sr-st temple) at Medinet Habu. The paper also provides insight into the link between the Ptolemaic sanctuary and the Feast of the Valley, as well as the existence of the cult of Amenope at Deir el-Bahari. This addendum draws on recent research that has augmented our understanding of the historical and ritual topography of the West Bank, as well as the theology of temples situated in that area.
