Abstract: The cooperation between the Ward for Therapeutic Pedagogy (Heilpädagogische Station) at Vienna University’s Pediatric Clinic and the Juvenile Court of Vienna, which was established in 1911, existed for decades. The focus of this paper is laid on the expertise furnished by the Ward for Therapeutic Pedagogy in lawsuits of custodianship and criminal cases concerning minors between 1920 and 1970, pointing out continuity and changes in perceptions developed and applied at the ward. Changes were closely connected with the guidance of the ward –especially Erwin Lazar and Hans Asperger were not only influencing the opinions and treatment of minors at the juvenile court, but their views were of great importance regarding the issue of further placement of the children and adolescents. Keywords: Therapeutic Pedagogy (Heilpädagogik), Juvenile Court, custodianship, criminal cases, Erwin Lazar, Hans Asperger, 20th century, Vienna Published Online: 2020/07/23 08:16:37 Object Identifier: 0xc1aa5576 0x003bb739 Rights:https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
