How can teaching be instructed professionally in light of recent social and ecological disaster? We tried to focus on this question together with students of Geography. Using the framework of Th eme-Centered Interaction (TCI), we discussed the concept of the „Imperialist Way of Life“ in order to explore connections between our way of life and recent global changes. Additionally, we focussed on seemingly inhibited responses in light of an obvious need for action. Th is led to conclusions for the individual students as future teachers, revising their position in school and in the classroom.
