The Specialist Information System (FIS) of the Bavarian Office for the Conservation of Historical Monuments (BLfD) forms the basis for the online publication of the official list of monuments. The FIS was developed in close cooperation with the Bavarian Surveying Administration in the context of implementing the INSPIRE Directive of the European Union. As a contribution to the development of the Bavarian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (GDI-BY), the Monument Atlas plays a key role. The external use of the digital heritage datasets and their pub-lic acceptance are illustrated by access statistics. The technologies employed are outlined, as is the internal application of the FIS within the authority, where it serves not only to update the official list of monuments but also to support digital case management processes. Ultimately, the map functions as the central hub at which all relevant data converge.
